Community Involvement

Our goal has always been to contribute to the community in a positive way through both the services we provide and the opportunities we can create for the kids. Here are the organizations and efforts that we hold near and dear to our hearts!

Hands On! A Child’s Gallery: Dr. Richard and Dr. Alison were fortunate to get involved with this non-profit organization from the beginning and see it develop into the much needed children’s museum our community enjoys today. Hands On! provides an educational, all-weather outlet for kids.

As part of our continued support of Hands On!, Reid & Reid sponsors The Rudolph One-Mile Fun Run in conjunction with the Reindeer Run 5K held the first Sunday in December each year, at Fletcher Park. Proceeds go to help maintain and develop the Children’s museum.

Reid & Reid is a proud sponsor of the Toothy Tango display at the museum

MainstayMainstay: Mainstay plays a vital role in offering both women and children the opportunity and resources to improve their domestic situation. Each year, Dr. Richard dons red high heels and walks a mile to raise awareness and money for our local Domestic Violence shelter. Reid & Reid also offer ongoing sponsorship of other events to help raise money for Mainstay.

Historic Johnson Farm: The Historic Johnson Farm hosts many family friendly events throughout the year, including Christmas at the Farm and tours for Henderson County school children. Dr. Richard and Dr. Alison feel like it is a wonderful opportunity for the children in Henderson County to be exposed to the local history of the Farm, and is a great way to teach them how a farm runs and how to care for the animals. To help support the Historic Johnson Farm, Reid & Reid contribute to animal sponsorship, covering the cost of room and board for one animal for a full year. Currently, donkeys, chickens, and sheep call Johnson Farm home.

Apple Festival Parade: The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over the Labor weekend holiday. The festival plays a large role in the Henderson County tourism component and the economy of local farmers. Every other year, Dr. Richard and Dr. Alison along with their staff and patients participate in The King Apple Parade. Many consider the parade to be the highlight of the weekend.

Dental Health Month: February is National Dental Health Month with the purpose to promote healthy diet and good oral hygiene. Dr. Richard and his buddy “Bugsy” tour the Henderson County schools giving presentations to children of all grades. Dr. Richard donates a bag of dental supplies to each child.

Youth Athletics/ Youth Organizations: Dr. Richard and Dr. Alison provide sponsorship of youth athletic teams, other youth organizations, and serve as volunteer coaches. They are both active in sports and feel that sports can offer a valuable set of life lessons for kids of all ages. Through their ongoing support, Reid & Reid are able to help more kids have the opportunity to participate.

The LionThe Lion Who Wouldn’t Brush His Teeth”: This wonderful children’s book tells the story of animals in a jungle with the “King” having a toothache. Reid & Reid provide a copy of the book to second graders in Henderson County as a fun way to get them interested in caring for their teeth and seeing the value of orthodontics.
